There are different options to enable your students to access the services of the European Student Card Initiative using MyAcademicID. These services are using MyAcademicID to identify the students, using their European Student Identifier (ESI), uniquely and reliably and . It also allows to control access based on the affiliation status at their Higher Education Institutionhigher education institution. There are different scenario's for enabling MyAcademicID:
Many institutions participate in eduGAIN, an international interfederation service interconnecting research and education identity federations.

To find out if your institution is part of eduGAIN please follow these 3 steps: |

Select your country and click on the National Research and Education Network (NREN) of your country. |

On the website of the selected NREN check whether your higher education institution appears or not as a member. If your higher education institution is a member of the eduGAIN system, your IT team will be able to deploy and then allocate the EWP admin role role entitlement to dedicated staff member(s) at your higher education institution. |
If it's not clear or you are not able to confirm it, contact your NREN and find out about the status of your higher education institution. Go to https://technical.edugain.org/status and find your NREN.

For institutions that cannot joint eduGAIN and cannot be supported by the NREN, a specific solutions was put in place, the so called IdP of Last Resort.
